Giving Back

Some things are just meant to be. Several years ago Gail DeMarco, founder of XSiGHT Media, was caring for a retired police K9 dog when the beloved animal became in desperate need of an expensive hip surgery to save his life. Without department support for retired police dogs, Gail was unable to manage the thousands of dollars for the surgery and the decision was made to have her beloved Styre put down. Fast forward to 2010 and the Sacramento County Sheriff's K9 Association, a non-profit formed to provide funds for the type of surgery Styre had needed, had come up with a new idea to raise money--a calendar highlighting the unit's active K9 dogs. All they needed was a photographer willing to donate their time to this worthy cause. After reaching out to Gail and the team at XSiGHT, the perfect partnership was born.

"Two years ago the SSD K9 Association was looking for a new idea for a fundraiser. The concept of a calendar highlighting our K9 partners was approved. Then the work began finding a team willing to support our efforts by donating their time and energy by providing photography, artwork and expertise. Gail DeMarco with XSiGHT Photography and her crew including Nicole Sepulveda, Vanessa Wright and Scott Rodier approached us and off we went. Without XSiGHT our calendar would not be what it is today; hands down our best fundraiser and a high-quality piece that our supporters look forward to each year. Thanks to XSiGHT, our passion for our K9 partners is at the forefront of the public's mind throughout the year. XSiGHT Media will always be part of our K9 family and we are so thankful to have their ongoing support. Thank you Gail and your entire crew.

"Styer was the most loving, loyal soul I have ever met. My kids adored him and he was a huge part of our family life. The thought of putting him down was devastating to me and when the decision was made to handle his health issues that way, a part of me died as well. Working with the K9 handlers and their dogs of the Sacramento Sheriff Department has filled that missing void. Through them I see Styer again--his courage, his loyalty, his personality. He's back! Through this project, I now have 12 amazing dogs--dogs that are not only mine, but the communities as well--protecting us every step of the way."
